YOGA

Ashtanga Yoga

This invigorating practice of Yoga involves synchronizing the breath with a progressive series of postures—a process which produces intense internal heat and a purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles and organs. The result is improved circulation, a light and strong body, and a calm mind. Short Form Ashtanga is a shortened version of the traditional Primary Series of postures. Ashtanga is for yoga students with some experience.

Ashtanga (also spelled Astanga) means “eight limbs” in Sanskrit, which refers to the eight limbs of yoga laid out in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. The Ashtanga method of asana practice was interpreted by Krishnamacharya and Sri K. Pattabhi Jois from an ancient text called the Yoga Korunta , which described a unique system of hatha yoga developed by Vamana Rishi.

Vinyasa Yoga

Vinyasa Yoga is a moving yoga practice which links one asana, or pose, to the next, through the breath. Vinyasa helps to orchestrate a balance of strength and flexibility within the body, merging movement and stillness. Breathing becomes an art form in this practice, in which movement and breath cease to occur separately, turning the practice into a rhythmic meditative dance. More description about Vinyasa Yoga.

Vinyasa styles vary by class and instructor. Classes may incorporate various traditions to achieve the goals of that particular class. Styles may include Prana Vinyasa™, Anusara, Ashtanga-based movements.

Prana Vinyasa

Prana Vinyasa™ is a vinyasa style synthesized by Shiva Rea. In Prana Vinyasa we more consciously explore the movements of prana, or energy in the body, so that we can enliven prana to its fullest expression in ourselves and in our lives. In these classes we will explore a more fluid approach to yoga, moving with the flow of the breath, and even in stillness, always exploring the subtle pulsations of life-force within us. This style of yoga is dynamic and will help you express yourself in creative, fun and challenging ways.

Heart-Centered Hatha Yoga

Heart Centered Yoga is a form of Hatha yoga with an elegant set of alignment principles, life affirming tantric philosophy, and heart oriented community.  grounded in sound inner and outer body alignment, it is an all-inclusive yoga in which each student's various abilities and limitations are deeply respected and honored.

Hatha Yoga

This accessible class moves at a moderate pace, introducing traditional and innovative yoga concepts in a format that is clear, easy, and fun to understand.  Attention to the postures allows for subtle adjustments to help the body release and strengthen organically.  This class is suitable for beginner & intermediate practitioners; skill level slightly more challenging then beginning yoga, and slightly less challenging then Vinyasa.

Pre-natal Yoga: Mommy Time

This practice presents you with the opportunity to connect with your body and your child in a loving, healthy way. It will aid you in inviting more ease and comfort into your body as it changes pre-natal. Yoga can give you tools to help manage and address the various stages your body will go through both during pregnancy and after. Explore the beauty of this amazing and often physically challenging experience.
This class is open to students at all levels of experience with yoga. The class is safe and healing, and creates a beautiful community of women growing together.

Restorative Yoga

Renew and restore your body with this relaxing style of yoga.

Yin Yoga

Yin yoga is gentle, yet intense, helping practitioners open the body, and cultivate patience and the ability to observe and stay with sensation. Yin in a specific approach to yoga where poses are held for 3-6 minutes to allow for the awakening and opening of the dense connective tissues of the body, with a primary focus on the hips and pelvis where an abundance of this tissue resides. It's a wonderful practice on its own or as a complement to an active yang practice.

Mindful Yoga & Meditation

Mindfulness is a form of self-awareness that is described as a state of being in the present moment and accepting things for what they are without judgement.  This class combines the path of meditation by offering a contemplative blend of Hatha sequencing with some yin yoga, fostering a restful inner atmosphere.

Each class includes asana, pranayama (breathwork), often a guided meditation or visualization, savasana and seated meditation for a minimum of 15 minutes.  All levels of students are welcome.  Come with an open heart.

"Your own self-realization is the greatest service you can render the world."
